Each week you will have a discussion forum to complete. These discussion forums will not operate like discussion boards in a traditional sense. You will be required to review an embedded video (or attached material) and answer the related discussion forum questions. Though you are not required to interact with / or reply to your fellow classmates’ posts, it is encouraged. Ideally, you will be able to tie together the concepts presented in the discussion forum with a personal or professional experience you may have had.
Please review the video, then write a reply to each question below.
Note: You will need to substantiate your answers by pointing to external sources where applicable. If in doubt, don’t wait until the last minute but email or contact your instructor. If you present something, you need to provide a logical thought process to it tying together your thoughts, the facts and the materials covered. The paragraph range is specified for each question below (4 sentences per paragraph).

1- Rachel Key constructs required to create a loop include the control variable, body, an entry condition, and an exit condition. The control variable is the variable that is used in the entry/exit conditions to determine if, when, and for how many iterations the loop will be executed. The body is the execution part of the loop; it is the series of statements that will be carried out when the entry condition is met. An exit condition determines when the loop will no longer be executed and once it is met, the program continues on.A for loop may be used when a specific number of iterations is desired. This could be used when counting. A while loop is best when the number of iterations is situational. An example of this is if using randomized numbers in the execution, such as rolling two dies with the exit condition being that the numbers on the two dies are equal.2- JaimeThe four key constructs for loops are: Loop Control Variable, Loop Body, Entry Conditions, and Exit Conditions. Out of these four I think that the entry condition is likely the hardest to reason through initially. Our text book says that it is a common mistake for beginner programmers to put the exit condition that we are looking for in the position for the entry condition, and thus not have the outcome that is expected. I can see making this mistake – so I will be on the lookout for it during this weeks critical thinking assignment. In addition to the key loop constructs, we learned about three types of loops this week: while loops, do-while loops, and for loops. It seems like the most basic loop type is the while loop which will test if a condition is true or false, and execute a loop if true. If false the while loop wont even start. I suppose you could use this type of loop if you had like a list of students on a waitlist for a class and wanted to do a lottery to see who on the waitlist got in you could use a random number to select students and add one each time through the loop until the waitlist seats were filled. Do-while loops are the next type of loop we talked about and they are almost exactly like the while loops, except that they don’t check if conditions are true or false until the end of the loop. So, in this instance the code would be running one line at a time and then get to the point in the loop where its value is checked and determined to be true or false, at that point if true, the program would jump back to the start of the do-while loop code. So, I am pretty sure the example I used for the while loop can also be used for a do-while loop – as long as there is at least one waitlist seat available for the class it could run through the loop of randomly assigning a student by way of lottery at least once.
