This assignment consists of three main components:

1. Development of a Research Summary (annotated bibliography)

2. Design of a detailed project plan and storyboard

3. Development of a Workshop (30 minutes of content) and Infographic

Step 1 – Select a Topic

Work with your partners to identify an area within the realm of Emotional Intelligence for your project. Suggestions will be provided and you can chose one of these or identify your own topic. Review your topic choice with your Instructor.

Step 2 – Research your Topic and Develop Your Research Summary

To create a valuable experience for your peers you need to become subject matter experts. This project requires extensive research that should include a variety of research sources – e.g. academic journals, books, internet sources, videos, popular movies, interviews. This research will form the basis for the learning workshop and materials you develop and will be presented in your Research Summary.

Each entry will include the title of the resource, a description of the content and a description of how this resource could be valuable to your project. This will be a valuable resource for both you and your teammates.

Your research summary should include a variety of sources. Consider books, journals, newspaper articles, videos, blogs, etc. It must include full text articles from journals as well as web sites. There are very good journal databases in the Library with a great selection of full text articles on a variety of topics. You are also able to do some “market” research through interviews with various professionals to get a personal view of the topic. Each team member will contribute a minimum of 5 resources to your research and two of them must be from academic journals.

The Research ePortfolio is to be prepared as a pdf document (or self-selected approved tool) and each team members contribution will be graded individually

Part 3 – Develop a Detailed Project Plan and Storyboard

This will include the following:

1. Workshop Title

2. Workshop Description (the marketing for your workshop) 3.Learning Outcomes

4. Storyboard/outline for your Workshop

5. Storyboard Detail (e.g. media choice, script, interactive content)

6. Outline for your infographic and identification of technology to build this

Part 4 – Development of the Workshop

The workshop will be a 30 minute (+/- 5 minutes) lesson on your topic. It should be very relevant to an HRM professional and provide a business perspective including examples of how your topic is applied or demonstrated in real organizations – EXAMPLES. I have found the students in this class to be a sophisticated audience. In order to deliver an effective lesson that "hits the mark" rigorous research is required.

Part 5 – Practice Facilitation

Successful completion of this project requires a team that is cooperative and efficient. This provides the perfect opportunity for us to practice the facilitation skills that we learn earlier in the term. Each team member is required to facilitate a minimum of 1 team meeting. One of your learning journals will capture your experience with facilitation and you will provide written feedback to yourself on your facilitation of a group meeting

Part 6 – Peer Evaluation

Just like the workplace, the classroom requires collaborative group efforts. It is important therefore to ensure that everyone is rewarded or evaluated for the contribution they make to group tasks. At the end of your group assignment, your team will perform a confidential assessment of your contributions. I will be using these assessments to allocate individual marks for the group assignments and team members who fail to contribute to the projects will be (and should be) given corresponding grades.

You will be asked to rate the contributions of your teammates on a scale of 1 to 5. Please read the rating descriptions carefully…there is no such thing as a team of 5s! A very high performing team that produces excellent results will have all members rated as a “3” for example. Please rate each member of your team, including yourself, according to the criteria identified below.

Provide comments to help explain your ratings. In your comments and ratings consider each person’s contributions to each stage of the project.

1 – did not participate OR fundamentally violated the expectations of the team. 2 – did not meet some fundamental expectations as determined by the team.

3 – met all fundamental expectations as determined by the team and contributed well the final results

4 – exceeded some expectations as determined by the team and contributed well to the final results; was a difference maker.

5 – regularly exceeded expectations of the group and was a star performer such that the quality of the work of the group was largely dependent on this person’s contributions.

*Fill in your name and the names of your teammates. Provide ratings for your performance as well as for your team’s performance.
