In my practicum experience my objective is centered around learning, understanding and evaluating my role as a Nurse Educator. Interesting enough they appear to overlap at times. Commonalities are found in each by their ability to work to improve the quality of care, enhance practice within the profession, and respecting the integrity and contribution of each profession to name a few ("Interprofessional education (IPE) definitions," 2020). IPE can be viewed as a steppingstone to IPC. For IPE communication is the key in how they collaborate with one another. Using skills such as actively listening and giving timely feedback to ensure there is a clear understanding of the events. They are focused on one another to solve the problem (UTHealth, 2015). IPC look on a grander scale that involve multiple disciplines in the discussion. There is a team approach that requires leadership skills to develop a consensus for what will work. There is a level of shared accountability to prevent harm in the healthcare setting. Additionally, evidence- based practice is used to help demonstrate the need for change and how it has worked in the past to ensure the best outcome(s) (UTHealth, 2015).
